- the ins and outs of visiting jail
- how easy it is to become addicted to heroin
- certain things certain people have done to get drugs
- recovery lingo
- drug lingo
- how easy it is to OD and die from heroin
- the addresses of two jails (by memory)
- the difference between visiting jail and prison
- the list goes on
I wish I was ignorant of all this, and more. I wish my life hadn't become saturated with the ugliness and sadness of heroin addiction.
But as my grandpa always said "you can wish in one hand and spit in the other" (I think that is suppose to mean, wishing is worth spit, so don't bother)
Today I am grateful my son is alive, is safe and has HOPE.
Actually, your grandpa didn't finish the quote:
ReplyDelete"You can wish in one hand and spit in the other and see which one fills up faster."
Of course, the original quote wasn't about spitting either. ;)
Yes, Barbara
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things that we have become educated about . Wow, aren't we so glad that we know about all this?
I pray that one day we will all be strengthened in some way through all of this, that our addicted loved ones will be sober, and that we can help others dealing with this issue.
Thanks for all your input with this.
Lulu
Bara,
ReplyDeleteI know what you are talking about. Neither Darlene or I have ever worn a set of those chrome bracelets and we never dreamed one of our children would either. The things life throws at us when no one is paying attention.
I KNOW!!! I only learned within the last 4 years that there was even a difference between "prison" and "jail."
ReplyDeleteWish I did not have a clue about what you are saying Barbara. I may do something similar on my blog but with a different spin.
ReplyDeleteI published my list today Barbara. You can read it here.
ReplyDeleteTGIF! Have a great weekend!
