R Jacob wanted to see pictures of myself in my younger years.
I was born too late to be a true hippy, but I still had the spirit. Its embarrassing to think of some of the outfits I wore! A typical day was a pair of guy's 501 Levis paired with a feminine shirt and suede lace-up moccasin boots! I was so slender that I could use a bandanna as a belt. I was known for my long hair and for being kind of shy.
I hung out with an older crowd, had only a few friends that actually went to high school with me. I partied A LOT and did A LOT of very stupid things when high. People that know my stories say I should write a book, but if I did it would have to be anonymous. I'm ashamed of some of the things I did and embarrassed by most - but it would be entertaining!

That last photo of you is one of my very favorites.
ReplyDeleteI am one who thinks you should write about it. Anonymous or not, you have stories to tell. :)
Okay, you were so cute! Love the pics.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a LONG time, but I used to go to another one of your old blogs via David Amulet. I miss his blog.
Anyhoo - I'm glad to see you're still blogging!

Erin, thanks :) Maybe someday...
ReplyDeleteJay, I totally remember you! I can visualize your icon that you used. I miss David too, he was incredibly smart and hilarious. Wish he would re-surface somewhere. If you find him let me know!
Go ahead and write, I´d love to read. It´s so far away from Germany, even if you just take the idea...
ReplyDeleteMy Cousins from Switzerland had long, blonde hair just like you. They are four years apart and back then grabbed each others hair and tore like crazy. Weird girls.
My hair doesn´t get that long. Is there a max-lenghts for hair per individual?
Oh you are so cute! You look exactly the way I always wished I looked! lol I always had this crazy curly hair and I wanted long straight hair like yours. I loved seeing these pictures!
ReplyDeleteI am not blowing smoke up your petticoats, (where did that come from?)but you look the same! Hanging out with someone older can have mixed results, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Thanks for the pictures, that was very nice of you.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. Love the hair! And the last photo of your smile is great. You look so happy there.
ReplyDeleteIris, I do think some people have a limit to how long their hair will get. I was forced to have very very short hair as a child, so I think growing it long was a form of rebellion.
ReplyDeleteAnnette, thanks :) Those days we all wanted someone else's hair!
TJ, what you said is so true about associating with older people. I think for me it was good because I think I grew up fast and sort of skipped a lot of the normal teen stuff, so kids my age didn't seem to be compatible.
Love your hair, Barbara, great photos.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, Barb. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool post! I would really love to have the exact boots in the photo. Been looking for several years, and find many, but they are so expensive! We used to buy them in Cherokee, NC, when I was growing up (and partying) in the '70's. They were handmade. I was also too late to be a hippie, but had the spirit and truly always will. Except for the partying. Now, I like sitting by the fire or sleeping in the tent, recycling, and looking at the "Tiny" house movement. Our priorities may change, but the spirit of loving Mother Earth (and other people) is the same, or even better! My dream outfit though, I must admit, includes those boots.
ReplyDeleteGood wishes to you,
Michelle.
